Successful defibrillation on a football pitch
In autumn of 2016, we trained Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) couches and administrative staff in initial resuscitation and first aid skills. Following the training, automated external defibrillators were installed on the LFF’s initiative in Kaunas football stadium and the LFF stadium in Vilnius.
In December 2017, two football coaches – Mantas Gintalas and Marius Čeliauskas – saved the life of a football veteran who suffered from a cardiac arrest during the football training. The men immediately started performing chest compressions and brought a defibrillator. After a single successful defibrillation, the victim’s heart resumed to its normal activity and he recovered.
